Platform

IPOP

MINEYE will develop and demonstrate an Interfacing, Programming and Optimization Platform (IPOP), a web-interface platform, which will collect and fuse data from existing open access Earth Observation data, and also newly collected multisource data at both local and regional scales. The IPOP will support decision-making at various stages of mining, including mineral exploration, extraction, mine closure and post-closure stages.

To achieve this, the IPOP embeds three tools that address different aspects of the mining value chain:
  • Mineral Prospectivity Maps, which are used to predict the favourability for mineral resources on both local and regional scales and utilise advanced data fusion techniques;
  • LiquidEarth: An external software plugin to access and collaborate on complex 3D geological data and models, enabling users to present data and models in a fully 3D immersive environment and quantify uncertainty in the models;
  • Inventory Map and Mining Residues Package: A module that enables mapping of re-mining potential and environmental footprints of mine tailings.
The IPOP will allow mine operators and exploration companies to monitor a wide range of parameters (e.g. ore characteristics, stability, potential environmental risks, etc.) to make more informed decisions, and consequently optimize their activities and quantify the impacts of their decisions.
