On 15 June every year the mining industry celebrates the women who have been, are and will be part of the sector. The International Day of Women in Mining (IDWIM) is a campaign that unites the global mining industry to honour and celebrate the contributions of women in mining.
The celebration seeks to further empower women to share their passion for the industry, as well as commemorate the industry’s achievement on gender inclusion to date. The day serves as a commitment to continue working collaboratively for gender equity in the sector.
This year’s theme is Voices of Impact: A Year of Resilience and Recognition. In 2025, the innovation, leadership, and lived experiences that continue to shape the mining industry across generations and borders is being recognised. In addition, the resilience, adaptability, and steadfast leadership driving progress at every level, from mine to boardroom is honored.
On the celebration of IWIM a 2-hour virtual event will be held on Tuesday, June 17, (15:00 CET), organised by a committee of volunteers from around the world.
There will be interpretation into Spanish, French and Portuguese.
