Tharsis demonstration site at the ‘Metal Story’ Exhibition in Liège, Belgium

SPACEBEL, project partner, is showcasing the Tharsis pilot site with a dedicated poster at the temporary exhibition “Metal Story”, cuurently hosted by the Maison de la Métallurgie et de l’Industrie de Liège (MMIL) – the Liège House of Metallurgy and Industry – in Liège, Belgium.

Running from 18 September 2026 to 17 March 2027, “Metal Story” explores the life cycle of metals, from their origins deep within the Earth to their end-of-life in everyday products, including electronic devices, cars and cans. The interactive exhibition is part of the European Interreg Greater Region VI project, which brings together partner universities from Belgium, France, Germany and Luxembourg. The exhibition is also expected to tour these countries, further extending its reach and impact.

A dedicated display panel focusing on the mining industry highlights the contributions of Liège-based organisations to this sector. Among them, SPACEBEL’s remote sensing expertise demonstrates the role of Earth observation in monitoring mining environments, reinforcing the importance of innovative technologies in supporting more sustainable mining practices.

By presenting the Tharsis pilot site, MINEYE gains valuable visibility within an exhibition that connects the public with the origins, uses and environmental implications of metals.
