Reaffirmation of the G7 Roadmap to promote standards-based Markets for Critical Minerals

From June 14th to 16th 2026, the French presidency hosted G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, a major milestone for securing the international supply chain for critical materials.

The 2026 Summit brought together leaders from G7 nations – France, United States of America, Canada, Italy, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. This international meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the urgent need to diversify supply chains, particularly critical materials essential to the transition to a more sustainable economy taking into account social, economic, and environmental dimensions.

The topics discussed were: the need for industrial and international cooperation; funding for innovation and industrial capacity; better market and policy structuring; transparency and traceability in supply chains; and stabilizing and securing the market by increasing domestic storage capacity. Recycling capacity and the need to incorporate secondary raw materials were also key topics discussed during the talks.

International cooperation within the G7 is thus renewed, and all leaders are committed to achieving the set goals.
