Sara Kasmaee from the University of Bologna represented the MINEYE project at the MINEARC Webinar, hosted by the University of Oulu, Finland, on 26 November 2025.
The event, funded by the U.S. Department of State / U.S. Bureau of Energy Resources and co-organized by the Horizon Europe projects AVANTIS, EXCEED, and MINE.IO, brought together leading experts to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in modern mining.
Sara delivered a presentation titled “Re-evaluating Mining Residues: Challenges and Resource Opportunities,” showcasing MINEYE’s innovative perspective on turning mining residues into valuable resources.
The webinar covered a broad range of themes, including: (i) Water management in mining industry & best practices, (ii) Mine water, impacts, treatment and management, (iii) Tailings life-cycle operations and management, (iv) Tailings as secondary source for raw materials, incl. CRMs, (v) Tailings, geopolymers, carbonation, construction materials, and (iv) Side-stream and circular economy strategies.
UNIBO’s contribution highlighted MINEYE’s upcoming results and its role in advancing sustainable approaches to mining residues.
